“Kansas Debate Challenges Science Itself”

Gotta love that wacky West…

They wanna change the definition of science in textbooks from “a human activity of systematically seeking natural explanations for what we observe in the world around us,” which is cool, to “a systematic method of continuing investigation,” using observation, experiment, measurement, theory building, testing of ideas and logical argument to lead to better explanations of natural phenomena. They’re similar, but the second one basically says there are no real explainations, there is no such thing as fact. Which is odd, because that is one of the tenents of true science; anything can be disproven. That is why Theory is the highest level of fact in science. However if you compare the two, you will see their Conservative definition has the connotation that science as per the previous definition cannot explain the natural world. They’re basically saying WE DON’T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE!

Because science has so little credibility compared to religion.
