History in Progress

President-Elect Barack Obama.

The Election-Day party was, as you can imagine, quite wild. Lucas (the Pit Bull) savagely attacking and eating the blow-up doll of Sarah Palin was a highlight of the evening (nothing can, of course, compare to the true highlight).

I may have only gotten 5 hours of sleep before a workday where I’ve got to walk to work b/c the buses are on strike, before a long, boring, sleep-inducing day in front of a laptop, followed by some menial tasks in landscaping. BUT. I will remember where I was last night when it happened.

  1. I was sleeping, BUT I’ll remember watching his acceptance speech this morning. Big sigh of relief when I saw the results, I can tell you that.

  2. I cried a little. It’s just the most beautiful thing, for so many reasons. I’m really proud to be an American today; in that last eight years, I’ve had very little opportunity to say that. But I don’t think we can forget the person we really have to thank for all this: George W. Bush. Without his complete and utter incompetence, I don’t know if any of this would have been possible.
