Nibbling at Novels…

When I have a good book (or one that I have high expectations for), I tend to read it like eating a piece of expensive cheese; I nibble away at it. Like right now, for instance…My friend Mikhail sent me a copy of "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance," something that’s been floating away in the back of my mind as something to read for awhile now…And I read just the foreword, and a paragraph of the intro, then consciously put it down. Even though I had loads of free time on my hands.

Is that wierd?

  1. Yes.

    Weirdo.

I devour books as quickly as possible, and am almost always left wanting more. I almost envy you, as weird as you are.

    • Ah, but what’s even wierder is that I’m usually just like you when it comes to books. It’s only when I’ve built up anticipation regarding a book that I chip away at it instead of simply spending all of my time reading…Sort of dragging out that feeling of new-book excitement.

      I AM a freak…

  2. Oh I don’t know. Some books I nibble, some books I cave and speed read. It depends… 🙂

  3. That is a great book. I don’t think “nibbling away” at a good book is weird – i’m doing it myself with a “Road Less Travelled”. I’ve been reading it for over a year and only just got to second part. It’s not a big book, and i think has just four parts. I guess i read a few pages at a time and let it set and digest in my mind. If it was a novel i’d have done it in a day or two.
