Yet more Resolutions…


Today is March 1st! Why is this important? Well, today is the day Adele, Randy, Jeremiah, Maria, and I (I dragged a ton of people into this haha) begin the Couch to 5K running regime! Which is basically a step-by-step program of alternating runs/jogs and walks to bring one’s fitness level up. From what I’ve heard, speaking to other runners and people who’ve tried the program, it does indeed work; the body adapts surprisingly quickly and you will see results in short order. Considering we’re built for running physiologically, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Still, it almost looks deceptively easy…

We’ll see what I say about it after the first day of it today…We start with a "brisk 5 minute warmup walk." I think I’ll implement some stretches in here as well. And then we alternate 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Naturally, it has to rain today…But weather notwithstanding, I will give it a go after work. Updates later. My job gives me plenty of good physical exercise…But I get little cardio from it, and I could use some leg, knee and feet exercise so running is one of the things I’ve wanted to get into. Apparently once you get going it really doesn’t take all that much time to keep it up; and the Couch to 5K website (and testimony from other runners) seems to support this.

Oh! And an update on the Altered States submission…Jason wrote back saying he liked it, that it had "a deep feel," and that they’re considering running it along the footer of the magazine, along multiple pages! So once I get a hard copy, I can genuinely say I’m a published author now!

  2. Yeah, I was all prepped to go and it started to rain, so I did spinning instead. My schedule on Tues/Thursdays usually works out in favor of me being able to do it on those days anyways, so win/win for me. I think I will do Tues/Thur/Sat instead of M/W/F. No worries, I will post as soon as I am done. I am not getting off track on this one. We also need to pick a 5k to do so we have a tangible goal. I know the Chuys Hot to Trot is usually in May. Anywho…good luck! I will update you tomorrow when I run. If it rains again I may just try the treadmill first. If you ever need to use one, let me know. As long as I’m here I can let you in the fitness room πŸ™‚
