A Series of Street Portraits from Taiwan

She was waiting for her truck to arrive to start the evening shift. I commented on how hot her clothing appeared; it’s 90F here in Tainan! And she laughed and agreed. Then I asked for a quick picture and she was agreed and took off the glasses.

Photography notes: Fuji X-T2 + 35mm f/2 @ f/2, ISO 200, 1/1000ths in Pro Neg Hi. Wish I’d taken this at f/5.6 or f/8 to bring out the fine details of her clothing. I get stuck in “shallow apertures for portraits” mode too easily. And maybe portrait orientation other than landscape but the bench sells the “waiting for work” vibe.

On my way to dinner I saw this guy at the crosswalk. Somehow I managed to capture him precisely where the lines converge, which is really neat! And he gave me that awesome salute in acknowledgement!

Fuji X-T2 + 23mm f/2 @f/2, ISO 6400, 1/500ths in Acros + Ye. I wish I’d have shot from a little lower but overall I really like this one!

Less a street portrait and more of a street capture. Testing my settings out on the bus as an old man takes his seat next to his wife.

Fuji X-T2 + 23mm f/2 @f/2. ISO 6400, 1/500ths in Classic Chrome. I’m loving the colors here. I wish I’d held the camera a little higher but I’m always a bit nervous taking candids of people.

Man fishing in Kaohsiung. He caught a real whopper! (the fish is the little bit near his foot) We had a laugh and then he took his phone out and showed me some far more impressive fish he caught at the same spot. He had a real nice 27cm grouper from a few weeks ago. Also a literal sea of plastic there.

Fuji X-T2 + 35mm f/2 @f/2 in Astia. Don’t remember the other settings.

One from The Crab Stand. He was so intent on chopping up the crabs I ordered I’m still not sure if he’s just entirely used to cameras at the night market or legitimately didn’t see what I was doing.

Fuji X-T2 + 16mm f/1.4 @f/1.4. Shot in Classic Chrome.

I was switching lenses a few weeks back while shooting and I…Er…Somehow managed to get spit on the sensor. I must have been drooling because I love my gear so much. Well, it dried into a spot that was showing up on some of the shots I was taking. So I took it in for a cleaning and this man was nice enough to take care of it! I took a test shot and liked it enough to keep!

Might try doing this sort of post more often! Let me know what you think.
